FORMER BLAIR MAN KILLED IN WEST COAST YARD

Louis (Happy) Gould Suffers Crushed Skull In Navy Yard Accident

Louis E. Gould, better known to Blairites as “Happy”, died early Monday morning in a Seattle, Washington hospital as the result of a crushed skull suffered when he was injured in an accident the previous day.

Gould was working at the Seattle ship building yards and had just started in on a new job when the accident occurred. A cable of a derrick he was operating snapped and flew back striking him in the head it is reported.

During his six years in Blair, Gould was foreman at the government material yards at the river near Blair. He had a virtually perfect record in regard to accidents in the yard and was considered a top notch foreman in government construction circles. He had left here shortly before Christmas seeking employment on the west coast.

Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Polly Finch of Calhoun, a son four years old and a daughter 18 months. Mrs. Gould is a sister of Mrs. Earl Reeh, also of Calhoun.

Funeral services are being held Saturday at Gould’s home in York, Nebraska.
