DEATH CLAIMS J. H.

Death Follows Stroke. Past 89 Years Old. Resident Here Since 1909

John H. Nearhood, aged 89 years on last December 8th, passed away Tuesday at 1:40 p.m. at the Mrs. Charles McBride nursing home where he had been taken for care. His death, following a stroke on February 5th coupled with his extreme old age, was not unexpected, although all the skill known to medical science was brought into use.

He was born December 8, 1852 in Millheim, Pennsylvania, the seventh child in a family of nine, and he was the last to survive. A younger brother passed away on the same date a year ago, leaving him the last of the family.

In 1878 he moved to Kansas, and here he was married to Miss Fannie E. Allison on January 18, 1888. In 1896 they moved to Clay County, Nebraska, and in 1909 they came to Blair where they purchased a home south of Blair where they have since resided.

Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Nearhood - Roy, who is in the mail service in Omaha and John, who is with an insurance firm in Minneapolis, Minnesota. These sons with the widow survive.

Mr. Nearhood had been a farmer all his life and his heart was in his work. He was a man highly respected for his honesty and many of his old friends will miss his kindly, genial personality.

The funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
