JOSEPH LYONS, 82, BURIED SATURDAY

Funeral services for Joseph Lyons, 82 year old Herman resident, were held Saturday afternoon at the family home in the New England neighborhood. Rev. McGauhay of Craig and Alder Grove churches was in charge of services, assisted by Rev. A. W. Clarke of Herman; burial was made in the Herman cemetery.

Mr. Lyons passed away at Savannah, Missouri on April 15. He had gone to the health resort there a little more than a week before his death.

The son of Hugh and Ellen Walton Lyons, he was born at Boyleston, Illinois on February 12, 1860. He was left motherless when a small boy, and came to Nebraska to make his home with an aunt, Mrs. Nelson Bovee. On January 2, 1888 he was married to Miss Marietta Gossard. For a time they lived on a farm at Bell Creek, but in 1890 they purchased the New England farm on which they have since resided.

Surviving Mr. Lyons are the widow; two daughters, Letitia and Mrs. Cora Hovendick of Herman; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Cook of California, Mrs. Stella Farmer of Kennes, Illinois and Mrs. Ellen Birdwell of Montana; two brothers, Knox of California and David of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
