James F. Taylor, 65

Longtime career as baker

James F. Taylor, 65, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at his home in Wahoo.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m.Thursday, Sept. 29, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo.

James F. Taylor was born Jan. 11, 1946, in Fremont, to Marlin and Erma (Nielsen) Taylor.

On July 23, 1967, he married Maralee Franke at Fontanelle.

Mr. Taylor owned and operated Wahoo Bakery from Feb. 4, 1971, until his retirement on Dec. 24, 2003. Prior to coming to Wahoo, he worked at the Blair Bakery for many years. He was also a retired fireman.

He was a hard worker all his life - a value he learned from his father. Friendships were always important to him. He was a fan of Nebraska football and the Chicago Bears. He loved his family vacations to Minnesota. He also enjoyed traveling to the Black Hills and to California. He hunted, fished, and spent time reading, and later listening, to books.

He is survived by his son, T.J. Taylor of St. Louis, Mo.; daughters and son-in-law, Chrissy Taylor of Wahoo and Dani and Kyle Mather of Norfolk; two granddaughters; father, Marlin Taylor of Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Merle Brower of Watertown, S.D., and Sharalynn and Lyle Joslin of Blair; brother-in-law and wife, George and Karen Franke of Omaha; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma, and wife, Maralee.
