#2-10 Sept., 1942 - The Enterprise

LYLE WILKINSON RITES THURSDAY Funeral services for Lyle Wilkinson, the Arlington youth who was electrocuted last Saturday in Columbus, Ohio while working in the Curtis-Wright Aircraft factory, were held in Arlington Thursday afternoon, September 3, and were conducted by the Rev H. C. Van Valkenburgh. The church was filled, as well as the basement where a microphone had been placed, and the floral offerings were profuse. Mrs. Howard Marshall and Mrs. Leonard Wulf, with Mrs. Alice Newcom as accompanist, sang “There’ll Be No Night There”, and “In the Garden”.

Lyle attended the Arlington schools and took a prominent part in all athletics and won many honors. He was a member of the Arlington baseball club. He was the second eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wilkinson and would have reached his 19th birthday next month. He was married to Miss Opal Holub of Fremont in November, and a few months later they left for Columbus where he was employed in defense work.

The remains were brought to Arlington Tuesday and lay in state in the Reckmeyer Funeral Home until the funeral. The father, who has been confined in a Chicago hospital, returned to attend the services.

Besides his widow and parents, Lyle is survived by four brothers, Harold of Santa Monica, California; Donald, Lloyd and Howard, all at home; and a large number of other relatives. The pallbearers were all close friends; they were Gayle Peterson, Junior Schlepper, Floyd Stork, Kenneth Toeben and Gene Kruger.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of W. A. Reckmeyer and Son, and burial was made in the Arlington cemetery.
