HENRY MEIERHENRY, 71, IS HEART VICTIM

Native Of County, Son Of Pioneer Settlers Is Heart Victim

Henry Meierhenry, eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Meierhenry, died suddenly Saturday morning at about eleven o’clock from a heart attack.

He had been taking the night shift at the Sinclair filling station and had come home and eaten breakfast with the family and had retired for his daily sleep. At about eleven o’clock he was found in his bed, but life was extinct.

He was a native of this county, having been born on a farm in the Fontanelle vicinity where he grew to manhood and where he later married Miss Frieda Schmidt.

He settled on a farm in the Neff school district where he resided until 1930 when he moved to Blair. To Mr. and Mrs. Meierhenry four children were born, three of whom are still living - Hattie at home, Walter residing on a farm near Telbasta and Mrs. Clinton Smith, residing in the Vacoma school district. These with the widow are left to mourn his sudden and tragic death.

Besides the immediate family, he has two grandchildren, Richard Harold Meierhenry and Ronald Gene Smith; and three brothers, Gus of Arlington, Fred and Ed Meierhenry of Fremont.

Funeral services under the direction of J E. Campbell and with Rev. John P. Brooks of the local Methodist church officiating were held Tuesday at the home at 1:30 and at the Methodist church at 2:00 o’clock, and interment was made in the Telbasta cemetery.

Thus another old settler has gone. At his death he was 71 years, 11 months and 4 days old - nearly 72 years of life in which he had watched the development and growth of the county in which he had made his home.

As a token of respect for him as an old neighbor, the quartette from Fontanelle furnished the music at the last sad rites and followed the body to its final resting place at Telbasta.
