FORMER COUNTY RESIDENT DEAD

Ernst McConnaha, a resident of Washington County for many years, died in a hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota, November 26 following an illness of several months’ duration. Burial was made at Hartington, Nebraska Sunday.

The son of the late Dr. John and Mary McConnaha, Mr. McConnaha was born in Cass County, Nebraska on April 18, 1868. He grew to manhood in Cass county, later coming to Washington County where he was married to Miss Nettie Bovee on Christmas Day, 1895. To this union were born five sons: Jay of Tekamah, Dale of Hampton, Virginia; Curtis of Denby, South Dakota; Clark of Baltimore, Maryland; and Delbert, who was killed in an accident ten years ago. Mrs. McConnaha died eight years ago.

Besides the sons, survivors include two brothers, Elmer of Denver and Earl of St. Louis and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Barker of Gordon, Nebraska and Mrs. Paul Van Valin of College Springs, Iowa.

After moving from Washington County, Mr. McConnaha lived near Hartington for a time. During the last few years he has resided with his sister, Mrs. Barker in Gordon.

Mrs. Nancy McConnaha, Mark, Ray and Wedell McConnaha attended the funeral services Sunday.
