MRS. GEO. NELSON PASSED AWAY LAST SUNDAY

Was Native Of County And Taught School Before Marriage

Mrs. Emma Jensen Nelson, well known in the county, passed away at three o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 2, at her home following a lingering illness of about a year. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Jensen and was born March 4, 1885 at the farm home near Rose Hill.

Here she grew to womanhood, receiving her education first in the rural school, then in Blair high school and finishing in the Fremont Normal School (now Midland College). After taking the college course, she taught school for a number of years before her marriage to George Nelson of the same vicinity on March 3, 1914.

After her marriage she lived happily on the farm, and to them three children were born, Marian Elizabeth, George Richard and Irma Lorraine, now Mrs. Robert Christensen. These, with the husband, are left to mourn her departure as are also two brothers, Clarence and Ludwig Jensen and four sisters, Mrs. Laura Tofte, Mrs. Walter Sappenfield, Mrs. James Ryan and Mrs. Carl Pieper, all of this county.

Funeral services, under the supervision of J. E. Campbell, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Lutheran church with Rev. Harold C. Jorgensen officiating, assisted by Rev. J. P. Nielsen, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
