FAMILY HAS FIRST DEATH, 48 YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Harley Appleby of Arlington were called to Irvington Wednesday by the death of Mrs. Appleby’s father, George M. Hazard, 84. This was the first death occurring in the Hazard family in 48 years - nearly half a century.

Mr. Hazard was a native of Washington County, having been born near DeSoto in 1859. In 1882 he was married to Amanda Elton, and they moved to the farm where they lived for 58 years. They observed their 59th wedding anniversary on September 13.

Survivors include the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Appleby and Mrs. Christian Dein of Omaha; three sons, Roy of Pomeroy, Washington; Allen and Archie of Irvington; three sisters, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Kremer Funeral Home, with burial in Mt. Hope cemetery.
