MRS. NELS JACKSON OF HERMAN DIES

Mrs. Nels Jackson of Herman passed away last Thursday, September 11, at the age of seventy eight years. The husband passed away four years ago.

Julia King was married to Nels Jackson at Griswold, Iowa March 20, 1883, and immediately following the marriage the young couple came to Nebraska where they began farming on a farm located in the New England school district. Here they resided for forty years, and here a family of nine children were reared, seven of whom still survive. They are Mrs. Celia Denny of Baudette, Minnesota; and Mrs. Julia Bendorf of Blair; and John and Henry of Herman; George of Blair; Thomas of Tekamah; and Eugene of Omaha. One brother and one sister also survive.

Mrs. Jackson was a wonderful wife and mother, and she also found time after the family retired to Herman to take part in the church work of the Methodist church. She was also active in the American Legion auxiliary. She, having lost a son in action in the World War, was more than just a member, but was heart and soul in the work. She was also a member of the O.E.S. Chapter at Herman.

Funeral services were held last Monday afternoon at two o’clock from the Herman Methodist church with Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating, and interment was made in the Herman cemetery.
