W. A. SHUMAKE BURIED FRIDAY

William A. Shumake, Herman, was buried in the Herman cemetery on Friday, August 8, with Rev. Charles E. Hamilton, Blair Baptist pastor officiating. Mr. Shumake had passed away at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, August 5, at his home as the result of a stroke suffered shortly before noon of the same day.

Born in Illinois on April 19, 1881, Mr. Shumake was sixty years of age at the time of his death. He was married in 1903 to Susan McKinney of Stomington, Illinois, who with one son, Charles, survives. Other living relatives include a brother, James, and a sister, Mrs. C. Mitchell, both of Oklahoma City; and another sister, Mrs. A. J Cornell of Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Shumake resided in Washington County during several short periods in his earlier life settling in Herman permanently about 1931. He was employed as a laborer during the past few years.
