FRED W. CHRISTENSEN

Funeral services for Fred W. Christensen, old time farmer living six miles southeast of Arlington, were held at the Elk City church on Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. W. A. Bowden of Osmond, Nebraska, assisted by Rev. Harold Baker of the Elk City church.

Mr. Christensen passed away in the Dodge County Hospital where he had been confined for a few days. The services were widely attended as the deceased was well known and a citizen who was held in the highest esteem.

The services were added to greatly by the singing of “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” by Mrs. Harry Turner and by “Going Home” by Therlo Reckmeyer, both accompanied by Elizabeth Turner.

Mr. Christensen was born in Omaha August 16, 1870, and a few months later the family moved to this county; his entire life was spent in the vicinity of Elk City.

On November 7, 1900 he was married to Miss Emma A. Gaines, and most of their married life was spent on the farm where he died. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Glen of Indianapolis, Loren at home and Mrs. Irene Widener of Omaha, and three grandchildren. Besides the immediate family, he leaves one brother, George of Blair, and a foster daughter.

Honorary pallbearers were James MacTier, Nels Enmark, Frank Gelstin, Gustav Paulson, James Wardell and William Voss. The acting pallbearers were J. O. Marshall, J. H. Cooper, Harry Turner, S. T. Gelstin, C. V. Schumaker and Fred Jungbluth.

Interment was made in the Elk City cemetery.
