FORMER RAILROAD MAN DIES AT 69

Oscar W. Baker, 69, a retired railroad man, died Friday morning at his home, 406 East Nebraska Street. Member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way, a railroad fraternal organization, he had retired several years ago from active work because of ill health.

Oscar William Baker was born May 2, 1868, at Bromberg, Germany, and came to Fulton, Illinois, with his parents when two years old, growing to manhood in that community. Later the family moved to a farm at Mapleton, Iowa, and he was married there in 1892 to Miss Tenna *(Tena)Kisling. The couple resided in Mapleton until 1927, when they moved to Blair.

Mr. Baker was a railroad man practically all his life, and for many years served as section foreman.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Albert *(Alfred) of Arlington, Arthur and Alvin of Denver; and two daughters, Mrs. Irvin Stolley of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Richard Miller of Blair. Two other children, Leodocia and Otto, preceded their father in death. Mr. Baker is also survived by three brothers, Louis, Arthur and Henry Baker, and 12 grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Campbell Mortuary, where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, in charge of Rev. C. E. Hamilton, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the German Lutheran Cemetery near Bennington.
