OSCAR WM. BAKER BURIED SUNDAY

Oscar William Baker was born at Blomberg *(Bromberg), Germany on May 2nd, 1868. He passed away at his home in Blair the morning of April 15th, 1938, at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 13 days.

When he was two years old his parents came to America settling first at Fulton, Illinois, where he grew to young manhood. The family next moved to Mapleton, Iowa, where the father purchased a farm. Here Oscar was married to Miss Tenna *(Tena) Kisling in 1892. The new home was established at Mapleton where they continued to reside until coming to Blair 1927.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Baker, two of whom preceded Mr. Baker in death; Leodocia at two months *(ten months) and Otto aged 20 years. Three sons are living, Albert*(Alfred), of Arlington, Nebraska; Arthur and Alvin of Denver, Colorado. Two daughters survive, Mrs. Irvin Stolley, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Mrs. Richard Miller, of Blair. There are 12 grandchildren living. Besides the foregoing, there are three brothers, Louis, Arthur and Henry. His only sister passed away about six years ago.

Mr. Baker was a railroad man practically all his life, and for many years before he died, was section foreman. He retired a few years ago because of ill health. He belonged to The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way and held rights in another association of railway employees. He used to belong to the Woodmen of the World but dropped active association several years ago. When a youth he was a member of the German Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held from the Campbell's Mortuary on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was made in the German Cemetery in the southern part of the county.
