RITES HELD FOR ARLINGTON PIONEER LAST MONDAY

A. Morris Masters Rites Held Monday From Home

A. Morris Masters, pioneer settler of Arlington vicinity, passed away on Friday afternoon, January 24, at the farm home southeast of Arlington at the ripe old age of 82 years, 4 months and 9 days.

Deceased was born on the farm adjoining his home on the south and had spent his entire life in the immediate vicinity. His death followed a period of four years of illness.

On November 11, 1888 he was married to Emma McFarland, who with their four children survive him. The children are Glen and Howard at home; Maude of Omaha and Mrs. Glen Brawner of Nebraska City; there are also two grandchildren, Jack and Janet Brawner.

Funeral rites were held at the home Monday afternoon with Rev. H. C. Van Valkenburgh officiating. In his discourse he particularly paid high tribute to the character of the deceased.

The music was furnished by Therlo Reckmeyer, accompanied by Mrs. Alice Newcom at the organ.

In the parlor of the beautiful country home the body lay in state, and the room was well nigh filled with floral offerings banked around the casket, mute token of the respect of those who knew him as an old and tried neighbor and friend.

The honorary pallbearers were Frank Brown, Henry Pfeiffer, C. W. Cook. William Hall, Edgar Wager and John A. Rhodes. The active pallbearers were Arthur Gifford, Francis Dolan, William Cook, Lawrence Cook, Lloyd Brown and Walter Peiffer.

Interment, in charge of W. A. Reckmeyer and son, was made in the Arlington cemetery - Arlington News Service.
