MRS. ROSA OFT, 83, DIES AT BENNINGTON

Mrs. Rosa Oft was born Jan. 4, 1866 at Wendorf, Germany. She came to this country with her parents and shortly after was married to Eggert Oft September 10, 1882, and settled on a farm 1 mile west of Bennington. In 1888 they moved to Bennington and lived in Ofts Hotel until 1899 when they moved back to the home place west of Bennington. They lived here until 1909 when they retired to the present home.

Eggert Oft preceded his wife in death March 1, 1931.

Mrs. Oft died Dec. 6, 1948 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 2 days. Funeral services were conducted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gordon in Bennington on Thursday afternoon. Interment was made in the German cemetery.

Mrs. Oft, being one of the early settlers of the Bennington neighborhood, will be missed by a large number of friends as well as by her immediate family. Of the surviving relatives, she leaves her four daughters, Mrs. Mina Oort, Millard; Mrs. Kate Dornacker of Omaha; Mrs. Meta Jungbluth of Fremont and Mrs. Nancy Gordon, Bennington; and one son, Hans Oft of Ontario, Oregon. Besides the children she leaves one brother, William Lage of Elliott, Iowa and twelve grandchildren.

The pallbearers at the last rites were John Desler, Alfred Glandt, Otto Glandt, Harold Bunz, Fred Berbman and Werner Mueller.
