MRS. M. WILSON RITES MONDAY

Early Settler and Native of County; Born at Cuming City

Dora A. Pilcher was born on the old Ed Pilcher, Sr. farm at Cuming City on May 17, 1869, just two years after Nebraska became a state. She as educated in Cuming City and the Blair schools after which she took a business course in Omaha.

For six years she taught school in the county and was a very successful teacher and much in demand. She was married to M. V. Wilson on December 2, 1816 (this has to be incorrect), and the couple immediately began farming on his father’s lands near Vacoma.

Later they purchased a farm in the same vicinity where they resided until failing health of Mr. Wilson caused them to retire. In their farming activities they were successful and amassed enough of this world’s goods to make them comfortable in their declining days.

About a year and a half ago her health began to fail her and everything possible was done, but with no avail, and last Saturday morning she passed away. Words cannot express her fine qualities. Her husband, who had lost his eyesight, was her constant companion and she ministered with loving tenderness to his every need.

Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Harold V. who died on May 5, 1937 and Grace, who resides at Beatrice, and with whom they have made their home for some time.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs.Lloyd Fletcher, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold V. Wilson, also four grandchildren and one great grandchild. One brother, Lloyd Pilcher of Lincoln also survives.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Baptist church with Rev. Kennedy delivering the funeral oration. Burial, under the supervision of the Bendorf Funeral home, was made in the Blair cemetery.
