MRS. OSCAR HOPKINS DIES

Adeline Pattie Nelson was born April 8, 1894 in Blair, Nebraska, the first child of Martha Elizabeth Sutton and C. John Nelson. She attended the Blair City Schools. She was married to Oscar M. Hopkins on September 15, 1915 in Blair. To them 2 daughters were born, Mrs. Evelyn Frain of Clearfield, Utah and Mrs. Gwendolyn Hart of Ogden, Utah. The greater part of her life was spent in and around Blair. In August of 1943 Mrs. Hopkins moved to Ogden, Utah with her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Hart. Mrs. Frain joined her parents here a year later. Mrs. Hopkins moved from Ogden to Tracy, California the fall of 1946 when her husband was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. She spent much of her time in Ogden and Clearfield visiting with her daughters since moving to California, and has many friends and former neighbors there to mourn her passing. Mrs. Hopkins had been ill since last June and had come back to Utah in July to stay with her daughter, Mrs. Frain in Clearfield, and be under doctors’ care. She was apparently recuperating very satisfactorily when she suffered a stroke Wednesday, August 11th about 10 pm. She passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday August 12th in the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden.

Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blair. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in which she served as one of the Star Points, a Warder and a Sentinal and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America in which she served as Installing Officer all in Blair.

Surviving besides her husband and two daughters, are a sister, Miss Alta Nelson, Fremont; a brother, George Nelson, Blair; four grandchildren: Roger, Ronald and Donna Hart and Craig Frain in Utah and five nieces and nephews in Blair.

Interment was made in Ogden.
