MARTHA W. JACOBSON DIED AT BLAIR HOSPITAL FRIDAY

Martha W. Jacobson, widow of the late Martin Jacobson, died last Friday, March 15th at Memorial Community Hospital at Blair. Mrs. Jacobson, who had been making her home at Sutton Place in Blair, was 77 years of age, having been born at Blair April 1, 1896.

Mrs. Jacobson was well known in Blair and had many relatives living here. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Petersen, who were pioneer settlers of the Washington County area.

Her husband, Martin, as a younger man, was one of Blair's earliest garage owners. He operated an automobile agency in a part of the building now occupied by the Vinton Motor Co., at the time when the motor car business was scarcely out of its infancy. Martin was also an early day pilot of airplanes who did considerable barnstorming and flew passengers for exhibition rides.

After some years of being in the automobile business, the Jacobsons moved to Alliance, Nebraska, where Martin acquired some extensive land interests and turned to the raising of wheat. They built a home in Alliance and made that community their home for fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson retired from active farming in 1963 and they devoted their time to traveling and enjoying life.
