MARTIN JACOBSON DIES AT ALLIANCE

Martin Jacobson, early-day Blair business man, died Wednesday at Alliance, Nebraska where he lived. He was 81 years old. Death was attributed to a heart attack which he suffered last Saturday and from which he never rallied.

As a young man, Mr. Jacobson participated in many innovations. He started the Larsen and Jacobson garage in the location now occupied ay the Vinton Motor Co. He was this area's first Chevrolet dealer. Prior to that he had shown an active interest in flying. That was in the days when any alfalfa field was considered a suitable landing strip. He became a good pilot and one of his hobbies was to fly his plane on Sundays and take people up for rides.

A number of years ago he moved to Alliance, Nebraska where he entered into wheat farming. He carried this on in an extensive way and enjoyed a number of good crop years which made him independently wealthy. Between wheat crops, he and Mrs. Jacobson traveled extensively. He became interested in photography and has created a number of travelogues, including some of the Tournament of Roses parades at Pasadena, California.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson had an only son, Vernon, who died in 1936. Mr. Jacobson is survived by his wife, Martha, two sisters, Mrs. Henry C. Jensen of Blair and Mrs. Herbert Hurd of Belgrade, Nebraska, and a number of nieces and nephews who live in the Blair area.

Funeral services will be held in Alliance on Friday and there will be services in Blair at the Campbell Mortuary on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery.
