WM. SCHEER RITES HELD FRIDAY

Resident Of County For 74 Years, Aged 85, Died Suddenly

Funeral services for William Scheer, Sr., retired farmer and service station operator in Arlington, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the family home and at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran church north of Arlington. Rev. Carl Hellmann officiated, and burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Scheer, who was 85 years old, died unexpectedly at his home here on Tuesday evening. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Scheer and was born February 2, 1863 in Quincy, Illinois. He moved to Fontanelle with his parents at the age of 11 years and was baptized in the Lutheran faith at that age.

Following his marriage to Anna Amilie Kohring April 18, 1888, the couple established a home on a farm north of Arlington. They remained on the farm until their retirement in 1929 when they moved to town. His wife preceded him in death and the following children are survivors: Mrs. August Echtenkamp, Mrs. Ernest Marking and William Scheer, Jr. of Fremont; Mrs. H. H. Mueller of Concordia, Kansas; Mrs. W. A. Westerman of Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Arthur Laaker of Arlington; four other sons, Albert of Muskegon, Michigan and Emil, Erwin and George, all of Arlington; 29 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Amanda Goesling of Fremont. W. A. Reckmeyer and Son, funeral directors, were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
