FORMER CONTAIN DIES IN SO. DAKOTA

Services were held Wednesday, March 17th at Herrick, South Dakota for Henry Tietgen, Sr., 81, former Washington County farmer. Mr. Tietgen was born January 31, 1867 in Schleswig, Holstein, German. He came to this country as a young man and on April 15, 1893 he was united in marriage to Emma Voss. To this union thirteen children were born. Three children preceded him in death.

Those surviving are his wife, Emma, three daughters, Mrs. Amanda Svogerson of Kennard, Nebraska; Mrs. Fred Kracht (Meta) of Wheaton, Minnesota; and Miss Emma Tietgen of Santa Monica, California; seven sons, William of Burke, South Dakota; Henry, Jr. of Bennington, Nebraska; Chris of Wayne, Nebraska; Albert of Herrick, South Dakota; Ben of Herrick, South Dakota; Hans of Naper, Nebraska; and Otto of Saint Charles, South Dakota. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In March, 1921 they moved to a farm at Burke, South Dakota, later moving to Herrick. Mr. Tietgen was bedfast the past two weeks. On Friday he was taken to the Burke, South Dakota hospital where he passed away on Sunday morning. All of his children attended the funeral. Interment was made in the Herrick cemetery.
