GOTTLIEB HARTUNG DIES AT 81 YEARS

Born In Quincy, Ill. Resident Of Fontanelle For 78 Years

Gottlieb Frederick Hartung, a resident of the Fontanelle vicinity for more than 75 years, died Wednesday morning at the Dodge County Community hospital. The 80 year old man, who had been in ill health for some time, was admitted to the hospital Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church with burial in the St. Paul’s Lutheran cemetery north of Arlington.

The octogenarian was born Feb. 21, 1867 in Quincy, Ill. and came to Fontanelle with his parents when he was three years old. Following his marriage to Miss Emma Jacob May 4, 1898 in Arlington, the couple established a home on a farm near Fontanelle. Six years ago Mr. Hartung retired and the couple moved to Fremont where they resided at 550 N. Bell. Mr. Hartung was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church at Fremont, and was a member of the school board at Fontanelle for many years.

Surviving, besides his widow, are the following eight children: Mrs. Agnes Hilgenkamp and Obert Hartung of Fremont; Mrs. Meta Lesher of Olive, Calif.; Mrs. Frieda Dorsey of Omaha; Mrs. Viola Hoover of San Pedro, Calif.; Mrs. Verna Newlan of Lincoln; Mrs. Lorraine Spangler of Arlington; and Merle Hartung of Orange, Calif. There are 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two children preceded him in death.
