BYRON COLLINS COMMITS SUICIDE

The sad news of the death of Byron Collins, a farmer living in the Tyson neighborhood north of Blair who committed suicide, reached the citizens of Blair last Sunday morning.

Mr. Collins had been brooding over financial troubles for some time, and had become involved in a lawsuit that had been decided against him on Saturday in Omaha, and came home tired and discouraged.

After his family had retired for the night he arose and shot himself in the head with a 22 rifle.

He leaves a heartbroken wife and two little children, a girl 8 years of age and a boy aged 6. He was about 36 years of age, owned 160 acres where he lived and had a regular allowance of $150 per month from other sources. The law suit only involved a few dollars, but he had brooded over the whole affair for so long that he no doubt became mentally unbalanced at the time.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 3, at the farm home, and burial was made at Shelby, Iowa.
