MRS. THOS. BATES RITS WEDNESDAY

Laura Caldwell Bates of Kennard passed away Monday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. E. G. Carson in Blair at the age of 63 years. She had been in ill health the past ten years.

Mrs. Bates was born on a farm south of Blair December 15, 1877, and had lived in the Kennard vicinity her entire lifetime. She was married to Thomas W. Bates October 29, 1902.

Besides her husband she is survived by three children, Harold, Mrs. Gladys Baker and Mrs. Valura Karnett and five grandchildren, all of Omaha. A son, Rhea, preceded her in death in September, 1909. Also surviving are her sister, Mrs. E. G. Carson of Blair, and one brother, C. J. Caldwell of Phoenix, Arizona.

Services were conducted at the Methodist church in Kennard Wednesday afternoon, and burial was made in the Kennard cemetery.
