MRS. LAURA R. MARR BURIED TUESDAY

Mrs. Laura Marr, 70, passed away Sunday at her home in Fort Calhoun, and services were conducted at the Presbyterian church on the following Tuesday. Interment was made in the Calhoun cemetery.

Laura R. Muzzy was born February 21, 1870 in Manchester, Iowa. In 1881 she moved with her parents to Franklin County, Nebraska where she lived until her marriage to David Marr on May 25, 1893. After making their home in a number of towns to which Mr. Marr’s work as a railroad man took them, the Marrs came to Fort Calhoun in February, 1902. Mr. Marr served as station agent there until February of 1931, within a year and a half of his death; Mrs. Marr acting as his assistant during part of his years of service.

Mrs. Marr had united with the Congregational church in her childhood. In the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, which she joined, she served as treasurer for over fifteen years and was active in all church work. She became a member of the Eastern Star in 1904. During 30 of her 36 years of membership she held offices in the order, acting twice as Worthy Matron. She served as secretary from 1931 until the time of her death.

She helped organize the Fort Calhoun Woman’s Club in 1906, acting as its first president and secretary a number of times afterward.

She is survived by her son, Harold Marr; one brother, Edwin Muzzy, and nieces and nephews.
