MRS. META C. PETERSEN RITES FRI.

Funeral services for Mrs. Meta C. Petersen, who passed away at her home nine miles south of Blair on May 28, were conducted at St. John’s Lutheran church of Bennington last Friday afternoon. Interment was made in the German cemetery. Mrs. Petersen’s death was attributed to a stroke from which she failed to rally.

Her father, Claus Lamp, and two brothers, Max and Hans, came to this county in the year 1865, being pioneers and territorial settlers. Claus homesteaded one mile north of where the German hall now stands and there Mrs. Petersen, an only child, was born on June 28, 1877.

There she grew to womanhood, attending the district school where she received her education. She was married to Peter Petersen on August 11, 1897, and they remained on the home farm, thus her entire life was spent on the farm where she died.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Petersen, one son and three daughters. The son preceded her in death and the daughters, Mrs. Lars Rasmussen of Kennard, Mrs. Chris Kruse of Blair and Mrs. Henry Kruse of Bennington, with the husband and five grandchildren, survive to grieve deeply their loss.

Funeral servies will be held Friday at 2 o’clock at the St. John’s Lutheran church at Bennington, and interment will be made in the German cemetery.
