HERMAN SETTLER PASSES AWAY

N. H. Pedersen, 85, Died Of Heart Attack Last Friday

SETTLED AT HERMAN 1882

N. H. Pedersen, an old settler of the Herman vicinity, passed away last Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Andersen of near Spiker as the result of a sudden heart attack. Aged 85 years and 5 months, he had always enjoyed very good health.

Mr. Pedersen was born at Haarbolle, Moen, Denmark on October 16, 1854, and in 1882 he came to the United States, settling at once on the farm west of Herman where he spent the remainder of his life. On December 10, 1884 he was married to Catherine Marie Brodersen, and nine children were born to their union. Mrs. Pedersen and two sons, Walter and Fred, preceded him in death.

Surviving are Mrs. A. L. Christensen of Randall, Minnesota; Henry C. Pedersen of Blair; Mrs. Morris Christensen of Herman; Albert W. Pedersen of Craig; Mrs. Walter Wachter of Rosalie; Nels A. Pedersen of Decatur; and Mrs. Peter Andersen of Herman; 23 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at one o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andersen, with Rev. Harold C. Jorgensen of Blair First Lutheran church officiating. Burial was made in the Thone cemetery southwest of Herman.
