CHRIST NELSON RITES SUNDAY

Christ Nelson, a long time resident of Blair, died at his home on November 14, 1947. Had he lived until November 20th he would have been 89 years of age.

He was born in Denmark November 20, 1858 and came to America at the age of 21 years. Christ was one of the employees of the Horse Collar Company when the factory was located on North Walker Avenue.

He was also caretaker for the late Chas. McMenemy and janitor at the Blair post office for a number of years. He was married in 1882 to Sena Wilhelmsen who died leaving three children. One son died in early childhood and a daughter passed away in 1904 leaving one son, Nels C., of the family who survives.

In 1891 he married Anna Marie Wolsmann who survives him. Two children were born to the second marriage, Marie (Mrs. Alfred C. Andersen of Herman) and a son who died in infancy.

Other survivors are the grandchildren, Della Nelson and Mrs. Lyle Ray of Blair and Helen Andersen of Herman. Two grandsons, Harold and Lloyd Nelson, lost their lives in the late war. One great grandchild and two nephews and other relatives in Denmark also survive.

Funeral rites were held last Sunday at the First Lutheran Church, and interment, under the auspices of the Bendorf Funeral Home, was made in the Blair cemetery.
