MRS. BERT LOFTIS RITES SATURDAY

Effie Grace Gilliam, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Gilliam, was born December 4th, 1888 on a farm near Blair. She grew to womanhood in this vicinity.

She was married March 18th, 1908 to Bert Loftis. To this union two children, Mildred and Marion, were born.

They lived in the Herman vicinity until 1939, then moved to a farm south of Craig where they now reside.

She was a member of the Methodist Alder Grove Church and was an active member of the W.S.C.S. as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Loftis had been in poor health for the past 3 years, and bed-fast for the past 10 days due to a paralytic stroke. She passed away Thursday morning October 30th.

At the time of her death she was 58 years, 10 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her death: husband, Bert Loftis; daughter, Mrs. Raymond French, Arlington; son, Marion Loftis, Craig; three grandchildren, Glenn and Marilyn French and Donna Lee Loftis; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Bovee, Herman; and one brother, Wm. Gilliam of Tekamah, a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Alder Grove church, and interment in the Blair cemetery.
