CALHOUNā€™S OLDEST RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Mary Nickels, oldest resident of Fort Calhoun passed away at her home August 5th, 1947.

Miss Mary Texter was born in Baden Germany May 1st, 1859. When 5 yrs. old she came with her parents to America. Residing in San Dusky, Ohio.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Nickels March 4th, 1877. To this union was born five children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. In 1881 they moved to Fort Calhoun where she lived until her death.

She united with the church when it still was a Congregational Church, and had been an active member of the Progressive Society serving as President for a number of years. She was a kind and loving mother and was liked by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her departure 3 daughters, Mrs. Herman Wolff, Ithaca, Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Neustrom, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Christena Aubler, Fort Calhoun Nebraska; 2 sons, William of Omaha and George of Portland, Oregon, besides numerous other relatives and friends.
