MARTIN CHRISTENSEN BURIED TUES.

Martin Christensen of Ft. Calhoun passed away on Saturday, July 12, 1947, following three months of heart illness. Deceased was born in Sulsted Vendaysel, Denmark on December 23, 1861, and was thus 85 years and 7 months of age. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He came to this country as a young man of 17, making his home with his uncle in Racine, Wisconsin, where he was employed in the Mitchell wagon factory. Two years later he came to Omaha and farmed with his father in Douglas County.

On April 19, 1892 he was united in marriage to Anna Dorothy Lund who preceded him in death by four years.

They spent most of their married lift on this home farm southwest of Calhoun. Here their ten children were born and reared, all of whom survive. In the fall of 1940 they moved to Calhoun where they lived until Mrs. Christensen’s death.

The surviving immediate members of his family are his five sons, Chris W. and Victor of Omaha, Albert of Blair, Mathis G. of Tekamah, and Russell E. of Calhoun and his five daughters, Mrs. Anna Neuman, Mrs. Dorothy Allen, Mrs Lorraine Weise of Calhoun, Mrs. Myrtle Blankenfeld of Canby, Minnesota and Mrs. Emma Born of Oakland, California; his twenty one grandchildren and one brother, Jim, of Minden, Nebraska.
