RITES HELD FOR C.H. ROBERTSON

Man Of Prominence, Ex-County Treasurer & County Assessor.

RESPECTED FOR HIS INTEGRITY

Chas. H. Robertson, well known in Blair and Washington County, passed away Monday morning, July 14th at the age of eighty two years.

Deceased was born July 3, 1865 in Rochester, Wisconsin. As a young man he followed many lines of endeavor, and after coming to Blair he with his brother, Fred of Herman, established a cigar manufacturing business which line he followed for several years.

He served for several years as deputy county treasurer and on January 1, 1923 he became county treasurer which office he held until December 31, 1930. On January 1, 1931 he took over the office of county assessor which he held until December 31, 1934 when he retired.

He had two great hobbies which he thoroughly enjoyed. One was his flowers. He loved flowers and until the end he was a floriculturist at heart. The other was baseball. His love for the great American game was almost equal to his love for his flowers and these two hobbies gave him an interest in life to the very end.

He came to Blair as a young man and here he met Miss Jennie McMillan to whom he was married on May 12, 1897. Three daughters are left to mourn his passing, Mrs. L. C. Farnberg of Blair, Mrs. Chas. Williams and Mrs. Jeannette Weber, both of Omaha and a brother, Fred Robertson of Herman and one grandchild.

Deceased was an attendant of the Congregational Church and it was in this church that his funeral rites were held with Rev. Watson F. Lewis officiating, and interment under the direction of Chris K. Bendorf, mortician, was made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus another old settler has passed. True to the old settler line he was scrupulously honest. His rule of life of being on the square he followed religiously, and when his friends look back over his past it will be with a feeling of pride. He lived according to his ideas of right and he made no apologies.
