RITES TUESDAY FOR FRANK

ARLINGTON - Frank Braithwait, 79, founder and manager of the Farmers Lumber and Grain Company in Arlington, died Saturday evening at his home in Arlington following an illness of several months.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Congregational church with interment in Arlington cemetery. Dr. E. Merle Adams conducted the services assisted by Rev. H. C. Vans Vaulkenburgh. Gene Loftis sang “Perfect Day” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. W. A. Reckmeyer and son were in charge of funeral arrangements.

The well known Arlington man was born in Winona, Minnesota on February 16, 1868, and at the age of 14 moved with his parents to Shelby, Nebraska. In August of 1887 Mr. Braithwait was married to Luella Burrill at Shelby, and the couple lived at Missouri Valley and Norfolk where he was employed by the public utilities department.

Mr. and Mrs. Braithwait came to Arlington in 1920 when he established the Farmers Lumber and Grain company. Five years later Mrs. Braithwait died. In 1932 he was married to Mrs. Ethel Unland.

Retiring from active business seven years ago Mr. Braithwait served as head of the lumber and grain company until it disbanded in 1940. He was also active in the Arlington Community club and the Odd Fellows lodge.

Surviving beside his widow are two daughters, Mrs. L. P. Miller of Newport, Oregon and Mrs. George Widner of Wichita Falls, Texas. One son died in infancy.
