WM. MEIER, 79, DIED SUNDAY

Victim Of Asthma And Heart Complication Ill Two Weeks Wm. Meier, a sufferer from asthma for the past forty years, became ill about two weeks ago, and heart complications set in and he passed away last Sunday afternoon, May 25th, at his South Street home.

He was born in Germany on Nov. 16, 1867 and would thus have reached his eightieth birthday on next Nov. 16th. When an infant in arms the parents came to America and settled on a farm northeast of Telbasta. Here he grew to manhood and was married to Anna Flake. She lived about ten months, and two years later, on March 9, 1898, he married Miss Augusta Ruwe. One child, Miss Beulah Meier, was born to them, and she is at home with her mother.

Deceased was the eldest of nine children and was reared in this county in those early days when Nebraska was a territory which made him a Nebraska Pioneer.

He was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fontanelle on April 6, 1884, and was a consistent member all his life.

Besides the wife and daughter, he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Herman Brandert of Hooper; Mrs. Minnie Brandert of Herman and Mrs. Peter Katt of Arlington.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, May 28th. A short service was held at the Campbell mortuary, and a regular service at the German Lutheran Church on West Lincoln street, and interment was made in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
