84 Year Old Herman Man Passed Away Last Saturday

James D. Lowe was born in Dearborn County, Indiana Oct. 2nd, 1862 and died May 10, 1947 at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 8 days.

When nineteen years of age he came to Burt County and since that time he has resided in Burt and Washington Counties. On October 1, 1885 he was married to Miss Mary Shinner and two children were born to this marriage, Mrs. R. G. Allen of Blair and one son who died in infancy.

The first wife died in 1889 and on June 30, 1891 he was united in marriage to Emma Lowe and seven children were born to them.

The children are Mrs. Grace Hancock of Blair; Wilber of Blair; Mrs. Dorothy Cramer of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Paul of Warroad, Minnesota; Mrs. Ruth Conety of Herman; Mrs. Arwilda Uehling of Uehling, Nebraska.

Besides the children already mentioned he leaves nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lowe of Herman and Mrs. Minerva Carter of Blair, and four brothers, John of Waterloo, Iowa; Ollie of Arlington; Will of Empire, Oregon and Hurt Lowe of Herman.

He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilber Conety where he had been cared for in the most loving manner.

Funeral ceremonies were held Monday, May 12th from the Methodist church in Herman with Rev. A. W. Clark of Arlington officiating, and interment under auspices of The Truhlsen Undertaking Service, was made Monday, May 19th in the Herman cemetery.
