PROMINENT HERMAN WOMAN DIED TUESDAY

Mrs. Effie Godsey, Lodge And Church Worker, Dies In Omaha

Mrs. Effie Godsey of Herman, prominent in church and lodge circles, died Tuesday morning in the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. She had been in the hospital for about ten days and had submitted to an operation.

Deceased was born at Mondamin, Iowa on Febr. 11, 1879, and when she was about a year old the family moved to Herman where she has since resided.

As Effie Hilsinger she was married to Oscar H. Godsey on August 4, 1901, the ceremony being performed in Herman. The husband died some years ago Three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Grandon of Fullerton; Mrs. Eledyce Helms of Omaha and Marjorie Kroger of Herman, and four grandchildren and a brother, O. L. Hilsinger of Omaha and two sisters, Mrs. T. W. Hungate of Ryder, North Dakota and Mrs. Clarence Stokes of Max Bass, North Dakota, these of her relatives survive.

Mrs. Godsey had always been a consistent church worker. She was a member of the Baptist church and for fifty seven years had taught a Sunday school class. She was also active in the Eastern Star Lodge and was a member of the Degree of Honor. Her activities in the church and the lodges and the interest she took in all civic reforms endeared her to the entire community and her influence will be greatly missed.

Funeral services under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star are being held this Thursday afternoon with Rev. T. J. Reese of Jefferson, Iowa officiating, and interment is to be made in the Herman cemetery.
