JANES, DAWN MAURINE, Jan 3, 1958 - May 18, 2009

Passed away at home surrounded and embraced by her family and friends. Dawn is survived by her husband, Eric; sons, Morgan and Colton; parents, Frank and Maxine Hartle; brothers, Kent and Craig Hartle; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dawn grew up in Omaha, graduated from Benson High School in 1976, and married Eric in Omaha on September 13, 1986. A talented and creative floral designer, Dawn owned and operated Flowers by Dawn in Benson for many years until its close in 1984. After closing, she continued creating custom floral design for individuals, special events, and craft shows.

While caring for Morgan and Colton as a stay-at-home mother, Dawn turned her love for animals into Hartle & Janes, which became one of the Midwest's largest and most respected USDA-certified suppliers of guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils. In addition, Dawn spent 12 years as a school bus driver for Blair Community Schools, forming many special friendships with hundreds of students and parents.

Throughout her three-year battle with cancer, Dawn's deep faith in God, strong determination, and unwavering optimism gave her amazing strength and inspired all who were fortunate enough to know her.

At Dawn's request, no funeral is planned. Her desire is that those who wish to honor her and celebrate her life do so by participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, an event she was active in for many years. Join us for this event at the Blair High School on June 19.

Dawn M. Janes, 51, of Blair, died Monday, May 18, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends.

Dawn Maurine Hartle was born Jan. 3, 1958, to Frank and Maxine Hartle. She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1976.

On Sept. 13, 1986, she married Eric Janes.
