JESSE A. HANSEN, SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN, DIES

Jesse A. Hansen, a resident of Blair since 1922, died at the Blair hospital on April 1st, following an illness of four months. At his death he was seventy one years of age.

He was born on March 25th, 1876 at Hampton, Nebraska, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hansen, and at the age of 22 years he joined the Third Nebraska Regiment during the Spanish American War and during his enlistment served for one year in Cuba.

Following the war he returned to Hampton where he was engaged in farming until 1922 when he moved to Blair with his sister, Amanda. The mother had died about a month before they came to Blair, and the father previous to that in 1913.

While the deceased has been ill for the past four months, he was able to make trips to town and on last Saturday while on his way uptown he suffered a fainting spell, but revived enough to return home. Several fainting spells followed and he was taken to the Blair hospital where he passed away early April 1st.

He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. W. C. Nielsen of Omaha, Mrs. N. T. Lund of Blair and Miss Amanda Hansen of Blair. Funeral services are to be held at the First Lutheran church on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. H. C. Jorgensen officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery under the auspices of C. K. Bendorf.
