Member of Prominent County Family Dies At 80 Years

Mr. Frank Schoettger, an early settler and a member of a prominent Fontanelle township family, died Tuesday, March 25, 1947, at the age of 80 years and 22 days.

Deceased was born March 3, 1867 in Juincy, Illinois, and a short time later the family moved to this county and became a part of the Quincy Colony that settled the Fontanelle community.

He grew to manhood on the old home farm just south of Fontanelle, and on December 6, 1893 he was married to Lena Kruger. Four years ago they had the rare pleasure of celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Two sons were born to them, but both died in infancy, and the wife passed away on August 8, 1945, and he followed on March 25, 1947.

He is survived by a brother, H. W. Schoettger of Arlington and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Woodman of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Schoettger and at St. Paul’s Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock with Pastor Carl Hellman officiating, and interment was made in the St. Paul’s cemetery.

The pallbearers were Messrs. Martin Kruger, Walter Nieman, Arthur Laaker, Perry Toebben, Fred Boschulte and Geo. Schoettger.
