27 Mar., 1947 - The Enterprise

Joshua Cronstrom was born on July 27, 1870 at Bakaby, Smoland, Sweden. The last member of his parents’ family, he died at his home in Blair March 22, 1947 at the age of 76 years, 7 months and 25 days.

Mr. Cronstrom grew to manhood in Sweden, and as a very young man began his profession as a tailor.

In 1911 he came to America, settling first at Oakland, later living for a time in St. Louis. He spent several years in Omaha and came to Blair in 1934 where he worked at the tailoring trade until the time of his death.

Mr. Cronstrom was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church, and later served as Sunday School superintendent in the Methodist church in Sweden. He revealed a fine knowledge of the Scriptures and approached the end of his earthly life with the quiet faith that God’s love and mercies underlay our human lives, and that our human destinies are in the hands of God. Mr. Cronstrom was a member of the Blair Methodist church at the time of his passing.

Mr. Cronstrom was first married in Sweden, his oldest daughter being born in that country.

Three daughters survive his passing.

On Jan. 3, 1941 he was united in marriage to Mary E. McKay in Blair. There survives his passing, besides his wife, three daughters: Mrs. Ivan Hultman and Mrs. Arthur Olsen, Omaha and Mrs. D. A. Daugherty of Junction City, Kansas; eight grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. S. L. McCaig of Blair and Rev. John Brooks of Lincoln in charge. Burial was made at Blair.

Mr. Cronstrom will long be remembered for his numerous activities in Blair and for his many services to a wide group of people. Numerous contributions have been made by friends in Illinois, Omaha and Blair instead of flowers for a fitting memorial in his church.
