MRS. JAMES BERRY FOUND DEAR IN KENNARD HOME

Former Teacher In Rural And Kennard School; Fremont Graduate

On last Friday Kennard was rudely awakened by the death of May Salome Stewart Berry who was found dead at home. Friends had seen that no signs of life had occurred about the home for several days, but thought she was away on a visit and had done nothing about it. Finally an investigation was made and she was found. The cause of the death is supposed to have been natural.

May Salome Stewart was born at Springfield, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel S. Stewart on August 29, 1877.

The family moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska in 1881 where she was reared and attended the Broken Bow schools. Later she attended the Fremont Normal where she graduated in 1904. She came to Kennard that fall where she taught in the rural schools and later in the Kennard school. After her marriage to James Berry they moved to a farm near the Lecrone school where they resided until 1915 when they moved to Kennard. The husband died in 1916 and Mrs. Berry continued her residence in Kennard.

Two sisters survive, Mrs. Cora Johnson of Winfield, Kansas and Mrs. Jessie Baillie of Berwyn, Nebraska; also a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Berry of Kennard and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held last Sunday.
