GEO. McDONALD, 83, DIES AT HIS DE SOTO HOME

Pioneer And Native Of County, Family Came Here About 1855

George McDonald died at his home southeast of Blair on Wednesday morning at the age of 83 years. He had been in failing health for several months.

Deceased was a pioneer and also a native of the county. His forebears came to the county in 1855 when the Indians were plentiful and the county was in a wild state. He knew the life of the early settler, and when the state was admitted in 1867, he was three years of age.

After maturity he married Miss Jessie Beales, and to this union ten children were born, seven of whom still survive. They are Robert, Wm. D., of this county; Guy and Myron of Omaha; Mrs. Chas. R. French of Omaha; and Mrs. Wm. Longacre of Schuyler; and Elmer at home.

As a citizen George McDonald was one of the best. Honest and upright in his dealings he lived a life above reproach, and he will be missed as one of the milestones of his community.

Seven children, all grown to maturity, and a devoted wife are left to grieve his departure. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Campbell Mortuary, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
