OLD SETTLER, 94, DIES AT DAUGHTER’S HOME

Native Of Denmark Came To Nebraska In 1870

Mathis Lund, ninety four years of age on February 10th, was born in Denmark, and at seventeen came to America and settled in Nebraska. First working in Omaha and later coming to Calhoun where he purchased land west of Calhoun.

For the past five years he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. T. A. Johnson of Bennington, and it was at her home that he died.

The wife died in 1927 and he never remarried. Four children survive, Mrs. P. A. Johnson of Bennington; Louis Lund of Calhoun; E. H. Lund of Blair; and Sam of Remsen, Iowa.

All his active life he was a farmer and he enjoyed it. His was a life close to nature and his acts were above reproach.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Presbyterian church in Calhoun, and interment will be made in the Calhoun cemetery.
