GARDNER O. James FUNERAL MONDAY

Gardner O. James, an early settler of this county, died last Friday in the Dodge County hospital in Fremont. He had been in failing health for the past three years, but the immediate cause of death was a heart attack.

Deceased was born in Sugar Grove, Virginia on Oct. 12, 1876, and was thus past seventy years old at his death. He came to Nebraska when nineteen years of age, coming to Washington county. With the exception of one year spent in Colorado, this was his home from his early manhood.

In 1901 he was married to Miss Maude McMillan. One child, a daughter, now Mrs. Arthur Jensen, was born to them. All his adult life he was a farmer, living in this county. He was a man highly respected, honest and capable, and his wise counsel will be missed in his community.

Besides the devoted wife, he leaves his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Jensen, and two granddaughters and two grandsons in this county and a number of brothers and sisters in Virginia and one brother in Idaho.

Funeral rites were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Mr. Harry Marks of Winslow and Rev. P. L. Robinson of Fremont officiating, and interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.
