MRS. B. A. HASTINGS BURIED IN ROSE HILL

Mrs. Binna Alice Hendricks Hastings departed this life at her home in Ashland, Nebraska Dec. 28th at 6 p.m., aged 75 years, 5 months and 14 days, after being confined to her bed since Dec. 6th, although she ha been in poor health for several years.

She was born July 14, 1871 at Fillmore, Mo., the daughter of S. P. and E. J. Hendricks. She grew to womanhood there, taught school three years; one year in Missouri, one year in Iowa and one year in Nebraska. On October 4, 1894 she was united in marriage to Wm. C. Hastings of the Rose Hill community northwest of Blair. To the union one daughter, Irene, was born who survives. They lived on the farm near Rose Hill until after the death of her husband in November, 1924. She moved to Ashland in March, 1925.

She is also survived by two brothers and four sisters: Mrs. Clara E. Morris of Wahoo; Mrs. Orla Shupe, Greenwood; G. E. Hendricks of Galesburg, Colo.; Mrs. Ina Frederick, E. R. Hendricks and Mrs. Lola Ullstrom all of Lincoln. One sister, Nellie Hendricks, passed away in Dec., 1941, and her older brother, B. E. Hendricks of Wahoo passed away on Dec. 9th, 1946.

She joined the Methodist church in her girlhood and was a devoted member as long as she was able to attend. After moving to Ashland she joined the Rebekah Lodge which she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted and of which she was treasurer for several years.

The funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 31st at the Ashland Methodist Church at one o’clock and at the Rose Hill Church at three o’clock conducted by Rev. Robberson of the Ashland Methodist church with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
