26 Dec., 1946 - The Enterprise CHARLES A. DAISS, FONTANELLE NATIVE DIES; RITES MONDAY

Charles August Daiss, 61, lifelong resident of Fontanelle, died Friday morning at St Josephs hospital in Omaha. He had been in ill health for the past year.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Salem Lutheran church at Fontanelle. Rev. Fred W. Kern, pastor of the Salem Lutheran church in Fremont, assisted by Dr. M. A. Ritzen of Fontanelle, officiated, and interment was made in the church cemetery. The Lawson funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

A life-long resident of Fontanelle, Mr. Daiss was born in Fontanelle January 27, 1885, and attended the public school. He was a member of the Fontanelle Salem Lutheran church. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Kore Daiss, were pioneer residents of the town.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Ladd and Mrs. Dora Smith of Fremont, a brother, William of Nickerson, and a half brother, Lawrence Becker, also of Nickerson; two nieces and five nephews.
