MRS. CARL HAHLBECK DIED AT 87

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 1946 at the Reckmeyer Funeral Home for Mrs. Carl Halfback who passed away Saturday at the home of her son, Alfred Halfback, at the age of 87 years and 6 months. Interment was in the Hooper Cemetery at Hooper, Nebr.

Dr. E. Merle Adams, pastor of the Congregational Church officiated at the services. Mrs. Jack Cady sang “Going Home”, accompanied by Mrs. Alice Newcom.

Pallbearers were Dr. L. M. Peterson, Raymond Ludwig, Emil Scheer, George Schoettger, Leo C. Weber and Harold D. Weber.

Mrs. Hahlbeck, the former Minna Schultz, was born in Hamburg, Germany on June 14, 1859, and was married to Carl Hahlbeck in Hamburg on April 14, 1880. They came to this country five years later and settled in the Hooper neighborhood. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at the time of her passing. After Mr. Hahlbeck’s death, she came to make her home with her son, A. A. Halfback and family. She has been in failing health for two years.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Harris of Encinitas, Calif.; Mrs. A. Lida Kellner of Los Angeles, Calif; Mrs. Helen Bierma of Alhambra, Calif.; and three sons, Carl of Los Angeles; Harold of Buenos Aires, South America; and Alfred of Arlington. Four other children preceded her in death.
