MRS. F. E. WEBB DIES SUDDENLY AT ARLINGTON

Prominent Woman Dies Sunday. Active In Civic Affairs

ACTIVE IN POLITICS

Death claimed one of Arlington’s most public spirited and best loved women when Mrs. F. E. Webb died very suddenly last Sunday evening from a heart attack. She maintained her many lines of helpful activity until the very last of her life.

Edith Mary Webb was born in Nebraska fifty six years ago and lived in the state all her life. She was married to F. E. Webb at Madison, Nebraska forty years ago last April, and came to Arlington thirty seven years ago where she has lived to make a large place for herself in the hearts of the people. She was active in the work of the Republican party and was Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of Washington County at the time of her death. She was also county division chairman of the society for crippled children and chairman of the food division of the Washington County Fair. During the war she gave outstanding service to the war effort through the Red Cross and was community chairman to assist with the canteen service for service men at the Union Station in Omaha.

In the community she was active in helping with every worthy enterprise. She was generous in her help of any needy person during many years. She was identified with the woman’s Fellowship of the Congregational church and was very active in that work. She reported for the Blair Enterprise, The Fremont Tribune and the Omaha World Herald.

Those surviving her are her husband, F. E. Webb, a brother, Ivan F. McKay of Eldora, Ia. and a sister, Mrs. R. L. Pence of Aurora. Also a niece, Mrs. Charles Pierce of Eldora, Iowa and a nephew Floyd R. Haight of Omaha. All of these persons were in attendance at the service in her memory. Two sisters preceded Mrs. Webb in death: Mrs. Ina Glasner and Mrs. Minnie Matson.

The service for Mrs. Webb was held at the First Congregational Church in Arlington with the minister, the Rev. E. Merle Adams in charge of the service. Mrs. Jack Cady sang two numbers as soloist and Mrs. Alice Newcom presented the organ numbers.

Burial was made in the Arlington cemetery.

Those attending the service from out of the city were: Mrs. Minnie Patterson from the Pacific coast, Mrs. Margaret Vanberg and Mrs. Rolland Pence of Aurora. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Webb, Sheridan, Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Webb of Madison, Nebr. There were numerous other relatives, friends and co-workers present from various places in the state.
