WM. CARTER, JR. KILLED IN ACCIDENT

William Carter, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Carter of San Francisco, died Sunday afternoon as the result of an automobile accident near Fort Lewis, Washington.

Deceased joined the armed forces about two years ago and served overseas. When peace was declared he was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington.

The accident occurred Friday when he and a comrade were driving a jeep. The comrade was instantly killed, but Carter lived until Sunday afternoon. Details of the tragedy have not as yet been received.

Deceased was a grandson of Jonas Burcham and a nephew of Jack Burcham, both of this city. He was around twenty years of age and married.
